After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:1–3, NIV

21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Aug 4-24 | Mon-Fri 6:00 a.m. & Sat 9:00 a.m.

Connect to God / Disconnect from the world

On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Then he touched her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.” The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?” When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing. Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches.” Again he asked, “What shall I compare the kingdom of God to? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.” Luke 13:10-21 NIV

What has you bent over?
What making you not stand up straight?
What’s crippling your confidence?
Jesus doesn’t call her what she is, or by what she looks like.
He doesn’t label her by her condition!
Jesus sees her as whole, while she is still bent over.
He calls her daughter...
The voices we hear in our head...we hear: “God is NOT pleased with me”
“You’re breaking my rules!”

Jesus broke the rules, and religion was indignant.

“...There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”

In other words, “God is not pleased!”

See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3:12–13, NIV

The Enemy’s core temptation: Doubt who God is and who you are.

“sin’s deceitfulness”

            You are what you DO

            You are what OTHERS SAY

            You are what you HAVE

And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17, NIV

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8, NIV

There are many areas of my life where I’m still bent over, confidence still crippled...

But Jesus is speaking to me WHILE I’m still in my present condition

He’s calling me “WHOLE” before I am.

He sees WHO I’m going to BECOME.

He calls me according to WHO I’M BECOMING!
