“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:5-11, NLT

To become humble of heart is the THE keystone character value of the Kingdom of God, and the #1 character trait of a disciple of Jesus.”
Why the humility of Jesus matters
· Humility is what it means to be human before sin entered the world
· Humility is what helps us find our way back to who we were meant to be.
· Humility is the natural response to God's incredible grace.
1. You can’t enter the Kingdom without humility. (Matthew 5:3)
“Blessed are those who recognize their need for God, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” – Jesus, Matthew 5:3
2. You can’t enter the Kingdom without becoming humble as a little child
“Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.” Then he put a little child among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them... Mark 9:34–36
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” –Jesus, Matthew 18:3-4.

Psalm 131: My heart is not proud, Lord; my eyes are not haughty. I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child, I am content.
