Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT

Christ died for our sins... He was buried... and He rose again. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

In baptism, we show that we have been saved from death by the resurrection of Christ…not because our bodies are washed clean by the water but because in being baptized we are turning to God and asking him to cleanse our hearts from sin. 1 Peter 3:21

Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. Acts 2:41

Heard
Believed
Baptized

Excuse: “I was already baptized as a child”

Those hearing, believed and were baptized. Acts 18:8

Excuse: “I don’t need to be immersed”

ALL Christians everywhere, of ALL time, agree with 100% unity that baptism by immersion demonstrates you are a believer in Christ.

“This sacrament is called Baptism, after the central rite by which it is carried out: To baptize (Greek: baptizein) means to ‘plunge’ or ‘immerse’; the 'plunge' into the water symbolizes the [new believer’s] burial into Christ's death, from which he rises up by resurrection with him, as ‘a new creature.’” – Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1214

“Since the beginning of the Church, adult Baptism is the common practice where the proclamation of the Gospel is still new.’ – Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1247

“Immersion brings out more fully the meaning of baptism and that for twelve centuries it was the common practice.” – St. Thomas Aquinas

“I would have those who are to be baptized to be entirely immersed, as the work imports and the mystery signifies.” – Martin Luther

“The word ‘baptize’ signifies to immerse. Immersion was the practice of the ancient church.” – John Calvin

“Buried with Him, alludes to baptizing by immersion according to the custom of the first church.” – John Wesley

THE Excuse: “I’ll be embarrassed/Getting hair wet/People seeing me/What will people think?”

Why Baptism? Baptism represents death, burial, and resurrection.

“Truly, I say to you, unless you change the way you think and become humble as little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. –Jesus, Matthew 18:3

Those hearing, believed and were baptized. Acts 18:8
