Pastor Nick Scheske | The Character of Jesus | Sunday, April 6, 2025
In the Gospels, Jesus was asked 183 questions.
He only Directly answered to 3 of them.
But He Himself asked 307 questions.
Jesus asked..
“Who do you say I am?” Matthew 16:15
“Do you want to get well?” John 5:6
“What do you want me to do for you?” Mark 10:51
“Why are you crying?” and “Who is it you’re looking for?” John 20:15
“Why are you crying?” and “Who is it you’re looking for?” John 20:15
Asking questions of the religious leaders - Luke 2:46
“Why were you searching for me?” “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” Luke 2:49
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Matthew 27:46
“Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed." John 5:19-20
Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” When they heard this, they were amazed. Matthew 21:21-22

“I wonder what New Thing God is doing right now?”
“I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right. Acts 10:34-35
“My idea of God is not a divine idea. It has to be shattered time after time. He shatters it Himself. He is the great iconoclast.”
C.S. Lewis, A Grief Observed
What if God is inviting us not into simplistic certainty, but into holy curiosity?
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:17-19
